This is a triple hemi-section of an Achilles tendon for an equinus surgery. I typically perform this procedure while elevating the leg prior to tourniquet inflation. This is usually performed with other procedures. Normally, I do not suture this incision. One must be careful not to over lengthen the tendon. This procedure lengthens both components of the Achilles tendon.

A common method of getting more arch support and overall foot stability is to use Kinesio Tape. The simple method for patients to use can be easily mastered by most. One of the principles that must be followed is that it should not be on so tight that it cuts off the circulation, just tight enough to stop some of the arch collapse with weight bearing.
